BOSSES at a 17th century pub are toasting success after going from “strength to strength” since a grand re-opening at the start of the year.
The Punch Bowl, in Paglesham, was taken over by Robbie and Sally Beaumont three years ago and they carried out an extensive renovation at the Grade II listed building.
Five months since it re-opened, customers have been rushing through the doors of the pub and Robbie and Sally are continue to revamp their offering - including adding a new beer garden.
In July, they are also set to open a new outdoor barbecue and grill.
The beer garden will have its grand opening on Saturday, June 8, at 12pm with free snacks being served until 5pm alongside live music and a bouncy castle for children.
Speaking about the opening, Robbie, said: “We are incredibly excited to open our beautiful garden and bar for the summer.
“We look forward to welcoming everyone for drinks and dining.”
The pub also source all of their stock locally and have reached a deal with Wibblers Brewery, in Southminster and Black Box Brewery, in Southend, to sell cask ale for just £3.50 throughout the summer.
Alongside this, the Punch Bowl has a diverse menu, offering customers two courses for £20 or three for £25 on freshly cooked food.
Reflecting on the recent success, Robbie thanked the community for their “incredible support”.
“The last few months have been absolutely wonderful and we’re very busy now,” Robbie added.
“Everyone keeps telling us they used to go here back in the day. They’re really chuffed we’re open again.
“We’ve got a great team here and we need to keep our standards high to keep delivering what works for our customers.
“We’re just trying to be the quintessential country pub.”
The Punch Bowl had originally closed down due to “a lack of business” in 2018 and was almost converted into housing before being taken over by Sally and Robbie.
It is the second iteration of a pub called “The Punch Bowl”, after the original one burned down.
