A MAN has been rushed to hospital after a lorry crashed into a railway bridge and overturned in a main Pitsea road.
High Road has been blocked for around four hours this morning after a lorry struck the bridge and overturned shortly after 8.15am this morning.
Two ambulance vehicles as well as police cars were sent to the scene.
The lorry has now been recovered and a man was rushed to Basildon Hospital for further care.
An East of England Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We were called at 8.17am with reports of a crash in High Road, Vange.
"We sent one ambulance and an ambulance officer vehicle.
"One man was taken to Basildon and Thurrock Hospital for further care."
The incident has caused traffic disruption in the area while the lorry was recovered, with drivers urged to find alternative routes.
It also led to delays on the c2c line via Basildon as trains had to run at a reduced speed between Basildon and Pitsea.
