Southend has been crowned the sixth most popular seaside resort in the UK.

According to a study by VSO, which analysed factors including temperature, dining options, accommodation prices, and things to do, the Essex city is one of the top destinations for Brits planning their summer holidays.

It boasts an average summer temperature of 16.58°C, offering visitors enjoyable weather for beach days and waterfront walks.

Moreover, with 509 restaurants, it provides ample dining opportunities.

With 32 cafes and 14 bars, according to the study, it gave Southend a Seaside Resort Score of 5/10.

The study highlighted the average cost of an Airbnb in the town is £697.75 per week.

However, despite Southend's rightful claim to popularity, Brighton took the crown as the overall top seaside resort in the UK.

Brighton excelled in terms of dining, with 814 restaurants, followed by a host of attractions and a significant number of cafes.

Skegness emerged as the most affordable option, and the warmest seaside town is Hastings.

The same study also found Southend's Astro City to be the 13th best arcade in the UK with an 'Arcade Enjoyment Score' of 6.31/10 with Leeds' Arcade Club topping the list.
