MUSIC legend Alison Moyet is returning to south Essex to perform a homecoming gig on her first full headline tour in seven years.

The Billericay-born singer was one of the biggest pop stars in the 80s, forming the Basildon synth-pop duo Yazoo with Vince Clarke before she left the group 40 years ago to embark on a successful solo career.

Her career highlights including two number one albums, six top ten singles, two BRIT Awards and a Grammy nomination.

Moyet, 63, will now embark upon a long-awaited world tour in 2025, her first full headline tour since 2017, and will be performing at Southend's Cliffs Pavilion on March 17.

The tour will celebrate her 40th year as a solo artist alongisde the release of her new album Key on October 4 - a collection of 16 reworked singles, fan favourites and deep cuts as well as two fresh songs.

In addition to her close friendship with members of Depeche Mode, Alison was part of the "very strong pub-rock scene" in the seventies, supporting bands like Dr Feelgood.

She was raised in Basildon and is a self-proclaimed fan of Southend United, even naming her late dog Tilly after former Shrimpers manager Steve Tilson.
