The Blackwall Tunnel is set to close for Silvertown works at the end of June.

Transport for London (TfL) advises that the southbound Blackwall Tunnel will be closed on weeknights from Tuesday, June 25 to Friday, June 28 to support highway works for the new Silvertown Tunnel, opening in 2025.

These closures will occur from 11pm to 5am each night.

During these times, southbound traffic must find alternative routes, but northbound traffic and bus route 108 will not be affected.

These overnight closures aim to reduce the need for future weekend closures.

Drivers of HGVs and larger vans should consider avoiding central London routes during these closures.

TfL will use variable messaging signs and third-party apps like Waze to inform drivers. The route 108 bus will continue to operate through the tunnel, escorted during the works.

The southbound Blackwall Tunnel will also be closed from 12.01am on Saturday, June 29, to 5am on Monday, July 1.
