ENTREPRENEUR Adam Smith has transformed an old car sales garage into a “trendy” new salon as he fulfils his dream of opening his own business.

Adam, 33, took over the empty garage at 1621 London Road, Leigh, earlier this year to carry out a huge renovation.

Now, the businessman has thrown open the doors to “Blessed” - in memory of his late mother - and is confident his barbershop can stand out from the growing number of salons in the city due to his eye-catching set up.

Blessed, next to the reliance car garage, is already grabbing the attention of passers-by and has attracted dozens of new customers, according to Adam.

He said: “I can confidently say that no salon in the area looks like this.

“We ripped up the whole garage when we took over and changed literally everything.

“We have had a lot of positive feedback so far. I have already had loads of new customers come in because they love the look of it and my older customers also love what we’ve done with the place.

“It has always been my goal to have my own shop ever since I got into the industry.”

Adam opened the salon three weeks ago and runs it with only one other staff member but hopes to expand if the current success continues.

He says it is his mother, who was a hairdresser when he was a child, who inspired him to follow his dream and become a business owner.

“I wanted to be a barber ever since I was a kid because my mother was also a hairdresser,” said the 33-year-old.

“I decided to call the shop Blessed because of her and because it really is a blessing for me.

“Funnily enough, she used to own a salon on this same row of shops when I was younger.

“After she passed away, I made sure I did all my training and I moved to Cyprus where I worked for a few years.

“Now I try to cater for everyone and I hope I can serve my clients well.”

The salon is open on all days of the week, except Sunday, and serves a variety of drinks and refreshments.
