A NEW multi-bank deposit machine has opened in a south Essex High Street to help tackle the issues caused by the closure of banks across the country.
Cash Access UK have introduced the multi-bank deposit machine inside the Iceland supermarket, in Billericay.
The deposit machine, which has been set up in partnership with, NCR Atleos, a leader in expanding self-service financial access for financial institutions, retailers and consumers.
The machine, linked to the LINK ATM network, offers cash services like withdrawals, balance enquiries, and PIN management to customers of major banks.
It also offers free cash deposits to customers of Barclays, Bank of Scotland, Halifax, Lloyds, NatWest, Royal Bank of Scotland and Ulster Bank with more banks to be added soon.
This is one of several strategies by Cash Access UK to enhance deposit facilities.
Andrew Schrader, Conservative councillor responsible for the Billericay East ward, said: "I am extremely grateful to Iceland for agreeing to host the machine within their Billericay High Street store.
"This should enable customers, in particular local small businesses, the ability to deposit cash in a convenient, secure environment with extended opening hours.
"The new machine was installed last week and is now operational, making Billericay one of only a handful of communities to receive a new multi-bank deposit machine as part of this pilot."
