Traffic management is now in place at a major Benfleet junction after an incident involving a burst water main.

Essex and Suffolk Water has provided an update on a water main that has burst at the junction of Kents Hill Road and High Road, in Benfleet.

Bosses say traffic management is now in place to keep the area safe while work is carried out.

Despite the burst water main, there have been no supply issues in the area.

Crews will work into this evening to carry out works, and the reinstating of the road is set to take place tomorrow and into Monday.

A spokesman from Essex and Suffolk Water said: "We were made aware of a leak on High Road, Benfleet earlier this morning.

"Our teams are currently on site repairing it. Traffic management is in place to keep the area safe while we carry out this work.

"Fortunately, there have been no supply issues in the area and the network will soon be returned to normal operation. Crews will continue to work throughout today and into this evening.

"Reinstating the road is likely to take place tomorrow and Saturday.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank customers for their patience while we repair the burst."
