Football mums who go the extra mile every week to see their kids enjoy playing football can claim a free drink in Hungry Horse pubs during this summer’s Euros.

To claim the free drink, mums simply need to visit one of the participating pubs in south Essex and prove their football mum status by bringing along their child in a football kit, or by showing a medal or picture of the child playing at the bar when making a food order.

The offer is valid at Rochford's Anne Boleyn, Laindon's Four Seasons, The Quays in Basildon, and Traveller's Joy in Rayleigh, for the Euro 2024 games through the entire weekend (June 22 and 23), which Hungry Horse is celebrating as ‘National Football Mums Day’ across their pubs.

The offer has been launched by the family pub brand to celebrate the invaluable work and commitment football mums show to their family, after a national study from Hungry Horse revealed that mums typically watch 12 of their child’s football matches every year, with more than one in ten (11 per cent) attending as many as 25.

Not only that, but the average mum spends 100 minutes a week simply waiting for their child before and after football training and matches, with almost a third (31 per cent) admitting to waiting around for more than two hours.

With millions expected to pack out pubs, football mums will be among the most committed and excited, with more than half (57 per cent) stating that their interest in the sport has sky rocketed since watching their child play.

Sarah Williams, senior marketing manager at Hungry Horse, said: “So many kids love playing football and sport in general but none of this would be possible without the unwavering support and commitment of their parents, in particular mums who spend hours and hours a week taxiing their little ones to training and matches.

“With football fever peaking this summer, we wanted to celebrate those fabulous football mums by giving them their very own ‘National Football Mums Day’ and a refreshing drink on us when they come to watch the footy with their family.

“At Hungry Horse we pride ourselves on offering an inclusive environment, which provides the perfect atmosphere for families to bring their kids to watch all the live action and we can’t wait to welcome everyone for an exciting summer of sport.”
