WITNESSES have described seeing the "horrendous" aftermath of a two car crash on a busy Westcliff road which left a person injured.
Essex Police said that a 27-year-old man from Southend has been arrested after the incident on London Road which took place shortly before 12.30am on June 23.
The Echo understands the crash happened close to the traffic lights near the Palace Theatre and Plough pub.
The spokesman said: “The driver of one of the vehicles sustained an injury to their hand.
“They were treated in hospital for that injury."
The spokesman added: “A 27-year-old man from Southend remains in custody being questioned on suspicion of dangerous driving, drink driving and failing to stop at the scene of an accident."
Witnesses described seeing the "horrendous" aftermath of the crash and said the vehicles involved appeared to be write offs.
