Emergency services were called to the scene of a head-on crash between two cars outside a busy Westcliff pub. 

Reports and images show a head-on crash between two cars outside the pub around 1am on Sunday, leaving both cars wrecked and broken glass and debris in the road.

A man has been arrested after the two-vehicle collision took place.

The driver of one of the vehicles sustained an injury to their hand. They were treated in hospital for that injury.

A 27-year-old man from Southend remains in custody being questioned on suspicion of dangerous driving, drink driving and failing to stop at the scene of an accident.

At this stage it is unknown if anyone was injured during the crash or if any arrests have been made.
