A FESTIVAL atmosphere with live music, DJs and a cocktail bar is set to "bring back the glory days" of Southend Pier.
A “Party on the Pier” is taking place on the world's longest pleasure pier this weekend with live entertainment planned from noon on Saturday to 7pm on Sunday.
All-female DJ collective Valley of the Dolls will entertain visitors on Saturday alongside Throwback to the Future who play music from the 1950s through to the 2000s.
Sunday will feature stripped back acoustic vibes from The Chris Robson Band, blues and folk band The Long Run and all girl 60's pop band The Ondines.
Revellers will also be able to grab a wide selection of drinks at the pier bar while dancing to the beats and soaking in the summer sunshine, with the bar serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic options for everyone’s taste.
Matt Dent, Southend Labour councillor responsible for culture, tourism and business thinks the event and the other recent successes will help the city “return to the glory days of Southend Pier”.
This comes after after the Labour-led council administration revealed its plans for “20 weeks of events” on the 1.33mile pleasure pier every year.
