A man has appeared in court to face a number of charges including kidnap after reports of an incident in south Essex.

Police officers were called to reports of an incident in Grays where a man reported that he had been taken against his will on Thursday, March 21 this year.

Jermaine Yamoah, 34, of Inglis Way, Millbrook Park, London, appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court yesterday.

He is charged with kidnap, participating in the criminal activities of an organised crime group and criminal damage.

He was remanded into custody and will appear at Basildon Crown Court on Wednesday, July 24.
