Rail enthusiasts are set to embark on a new steam train journey to one of the most popular Christmas markets.
Steam Dreams Rail Company has announced a new day-trip from Southend Central to Bath for the city’s famous festive market.
Nestled between the historic Bath Abbey and the Roman Baths, Bath city centre is transformed into a shoppers’ paradise with 100 wooden chalets selling unique gifts as well as festive food and drink.
A vintage diesel train will start the journey on December 6, stopping off at Leigh before making its way to West London where it joins the steam locomotive.
The rest of the trip will be steam-hauled, offering passengers stunning views of the rolling hills of southern England on the way to Bath.
The Steam Dreams website states: "Step aboard for an enchanting steam journey from Essex to one of the UK’s most popular Christmas Markets.
"From the moment our liveried steward welcomes you aboard, you’ll be transported to a long lost age where every moment of travel is to be savoured."
Day-trippers will travel in vintage train carriages such as Pullman coaches, and can choose between three classes with packages which include the Steam Dreams signature Champagne cocktail and a multi-course breakfast.
With prices ranging from £175 to £410 depending on the class, customers can book their tickets at steamdreams.co.uk/book.
