THE owner of a virtual golf bar is confident his businesses is helping fill “another piece of the puzzle” to help revive a Southend street.

Bunker 19 opened its doors six weeks ago and joins a number of new businesses which are aiming to work together to boost business on Alexandra Street, just off the High Street.

The virtual golf bar offers customers a chance to play on more than 200 real life courses on their simulator while also being able to enjoy a drink and food at the venue.

Daniel Day’s business joins the likes of Twelve Cocktails, the new Sun Rooms 2 bar, and the Terrace Bar in Alexandra Street in the hope of making the road a hub of lively activity in the city centre.

He said: “We are kind of the newest ones here along with the Sun Rooms 2 and I feel like we definitely bring something new to the party.

“Ever since we came here, the support from all the businesses around has just been amazing and it feels so welcoming.

“Everyone wants to see Alexandra Street thrive and I feel like we are all pulling in the same direction.”

The businesses work together to help promote each other with customers encouraged to visit one, then another, for a full night of entertainment.

Daniel is feeling confident about the future.

He added: “Business so far has been good and we are ready to move to phase two of our marketing where people can use our website to book in sessions here. The good thing is everyone that has come here has enjoyed themselves.

“We do have to work a bit harder because we don’t have a lot of street level frontage since we’re in a basement.

“We just want to push out there that we are a good friendly bar and we offer something for everyone.”

The golf bar has already had a few professional golfers try out their venue and are looking to launch their own kids golf academy in the new future.

“We’re looking to be here for many, many years,” said Daniel. We are patient with how we’re growing because we want to build up the area as a thriving community and night time hub.”
