From drink drivers to people failing to give information to police, these are 12 residents or visitors in south Essex who have been sentenced at magistrates' courts in June.


A DRINK driver caught with a quantity of cannabis has been banned from driving for more than three years.

Dandy Ugbelase, Ingaway, Basildon, was found with 71 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath when he was driving in Golden Sqaure, Westminster, on June 9. He was also found with a quantity of cannabis in his possession.

The drink drive limit is 35. The 31-year-old admitted the offences at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court last Monday where Ugbelase was banned from driving for three years and four months.

He must also pay a fine of £692.


A DRINK driver caught at almost double the alcohol limit has been banned from driving for more than a year.

Presley Harding, of Almere, Benfleet, was found with 63 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath when he was driving a Ford Focus in Memorial Avenue, Stratford on June 7. The limit is 35.

The 34-year-old admitted the offence at Thames Magistrates’ Court last Monday, where he was banned from driving for a year and a half. He must also pay an £800 fine, prosecution costs of £85 and a £320 surcharge to fund victim services.


A MAN who failed to identify a Mercedes Sprinter driver alleged to have been guilty of an offence has been banned from the roads.

Wayne Ellis, of Rickling, Basildon did not hand information relating to the identification of the driver to Lincolnshire Police at Nettleham HQ on March 14.

The offence was proved via the single justice procedure and the 48-year-old was banned from driving for six months at Lincoln Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

Ellis was also fined £660, told pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £264 and £110 prosecution costs.


A MOTORIST caught speeding more than 10 miles per hour above the limit on the M25 has been fined. 

Tommy Wiseman, of Blythe Road, Stanford-le-Hope, was driving a Ford Fiesta on the motorway in Enfield when he was caught going at 64 miles per hour on November 30. The limit is 50.

The 27-year-old admitted the offence via the single justice procedure last Friday.

Wiseman was hit with a fine of £72 and three penalty points at Willesden Magistrates’ Court.
He must also pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £28.


A MAN who failed to hand evidence over to police has been ordered to pay more than £1,000.

Frank Weitner, of Cheshunts, Pitsea, failed to give information to an officer of Metropolitan Police in Bexley.

This related to a driver who was alleged to have been guilty of an offence on October 23.

The offence was proved via the single justice procedure at Willesden Magistrates’ Court last Friday. 

Weitner must now pay a fine of £660, a surcharge to fund victim services of £264 and £100 prosecution costs.


A MAN has been banned from the roads after he failed to identify a driver alleged to have been guilty of an offence.

Kevin Finan, of Hazel Close, Noak Bridge, failed to give information to Devon and Cornwall Police relating to the Mercedes driver on December 13. 

The offence was proved via the single justice procedure at Bodmin Magistrates’ Courts last Monday.

Finan, 36, has been banned from driving for six months and fined £660.

He must also pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £264 and prosecution costs of £90.


A SPEEDING driver caught above the limit in a main road has been hit with a fine.

Deborah Dwyer, of Southview Road, Hockley, was behind the wheel of an Audi on the A518 in Trench Lock, Shropshire, when she was recorded at a speed exceeding 30 miles per hour on December 4.

The offence was proved via the single justice procedure at Worcestershire Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.

Dwyer, 53, must now pay a fine of £220, a  surcharge to fund victim services of £88 and prosecution costs of £90. Her driving record was also endorsed with three penalty points.


A WOMAN who failed to hand evidence to police has been hit with a large fine.

Chelsea Knight, of Cole Avenue, Southend, failed to give information to Lincolnshire Police relating to a Mercedes driver who was alleged to have been guilty of an offence on January 15 last year.

The offence was proved in her absence at Lincoln Magistrates’ Court last Monday.

Knight, 22, must now pay a fine of £660, a surcharge to fund victim services of £264 and £650 in prosecution costs.

Her driving record was endorsed with six points.


A COMMUTER caught at Rayleigh train station without a ticket has been slapped with a fine.

Ian Macpherson, of Whitefriars Crescent, Westcliff entered a Greater Anglia train when he was found without a valid ticket entitling him to travel on August 17 last year.

The 50-year-old was convicted in January and was hit with a £40 fine at Reading Magistrates’ Court last Monday.

He must also pay compensation of £5.70 and prosecution costs of £175, the court decided. 


A MAN who failed to identify a driver alleged to have been guilty of an offence has been banned from the roads for half a year.

Steve Jacobs, of Guildford Road, Southend, failed to give information to Sussex Police relating to the identification of the Ford driver on August 23 last year.

The 37-year-old was banned from driving for six months at Brighton Magistrates’ Court last Friday after being found guilty on April 11.

Jacobs did not attend the hearing despite being warned he would be disqualified in his absence, the court heard. He must also pay a £660 fine, £300 prosecution costs and a £264 surcharge.


A WOMAN caught travelling without a train ticket has been hit with a large fine. 

Sylwia Put, of The Ridgeway, Westcliff, was travelling on a Govia Thameslink train when she failed to hand a valid ticket over to an inspector on December 20.  

The offence was proved via the single justice procedure at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on June 17.

And the 31-year-old must now pay a fine of £220, prosecution costs of £135 and a surcharge to fund victim services of £88.

Put must also pay compensation of £20.30.


A SPEEDING driver caught above a 40 miles per hour limit has been hit with a fine.

David Emery, of High Pavement, Basildon, was driving a BMW car in Golders Green when he was caught going at 47 miles per hour on the A406. The limit is 40.

The offence was proved via the single justice procedure at Lavender Hill Magistrates’ Court last Monday.

Emery must now pay a fine of £220, a surcharge to fund victim services of £88 and prosecution costs of £90. His driving record was endorsed with three points.
