Echo reporter Sheldon Dragwidge visited Bunker 19 in Alexandra Street, Southend, to try out the new attraction:

After walking through the unsuspecting doors on Alexandra Street and down the stairs, you enter what feels like a hidden world among the hustle and bustle of the city.

At the site of the former Bakers Bar, Bunker 19 gives customers the chance to play through 200 real golf courses on its simulators.

Dan set up the screen and loaded a course based in Dubai.

After showing me the correct way to swing and hit the ball, it was time for me to step up to the plate. After a few embarrassing misses, I made contact with the ball and hit it on the screen which then simulated how far it travelled on the actual course.

The simulator added to the excitement to the game and was incredibly realistic in its feedback.

Although I initially struggled, with Dan’s guidance it became quite an enjoyable experience.

It is the perfect place for rookies like myself to work on our game and I’m sure to give it another shot soon.
