HM Coastguard Southend-on-Sea were called to 7 incidents yesterday, only 1 day into the school summer holidays.
The coastguard was called to rescue 2 teenagers, aged 13 and 14, who were drifting out on an ongoing tide, as well as attending a vessel on fire, whilst out on the water, towards River Crouch.
They also responded to reports of multiple people in distress in the water near Southend Pier and a number of medical emergencies on the foreshore.
HM Coastguard Southend worked with multiple partners to tackle the incidents, including RNLI Southend, West Mersea Lifeboat Station, RNLI Burnham on Crouch, Essex County Fire and Rescue Service, East of England Ambulance Service, NHS Trust and Essex Police.
HM Coastguard Southend ask that the public ‘keep safe’ when visiting Southend's coastline and call 999 if any incidents occur.
