SIX huge bands who made it big in the 80s will be coming to Colchester as part of a whole-day for showcasing new wave and synth-pop retro revival. 

The Human League will be headlining the 80s Calling! festival, set to take place on a huge stage in Castle Park this summer.

The new wave band will be joined by other incredible 80s acts for the event in August.

Bananarama, one of the most successful female groups of all time will also be performing in the city, famous for songs 'Cruel Summer' and 'Love in the First Degree'. 

In addition, there will be Jazz-funk icons Level 42, known for hits like ‘Lessons in Love’ and ‘Something About You’, and The Farm, best known for their anthemic hit ‘All Together Now’.

Another band performing at the festival will be soul-pop siblings Pat and Greg Kane, otherwise known as Hue and Cry best known for their single 'Labour of Love'.

Opening the festival for a brilliant day of live music will be The Christians, whose debut album, The Christians entered the UK Albums Chart at number two.

The 80s Calling! festival will take place in Castle Park on August 3, with tickets going on sale on March 29 at 9am. 

Tickets will be priced from £42.50, including a booking fee and hospitality packages and VIP upgrades are also available.
