Hundreds of children scooted, cycled, or walked, along the seafront in an inaugural event to raise money for a south Essex charity.

The Goslings event, organised by cancer support charity Gold Geese, raised more than £20,000 in an effort to aid families affected by childhood cancer.

The charity event saw more than 100 children, aged up to 16, taking the challenge head-on from Joscelyn’s Beach by Chalkwell Station.

One family taking part were the Lyons from Westcliff, who incredibly raised more than £7,500 alone.

Sarah Lyons is mum to Evie, six, and Jack, nine.

She said: "On April 17, Evie was diagnosed with leukaemia.

"Our lives were instantly flipped upside down.

"Jack did the Goslings event for Evie, for all the other families affected like us that Gold Geese sprinkle their magic dust on.

"It feels like they fly with us and guide us on this unknown path.

"It is a lot for a nine-year-old to understand but he is taking his protective big brother role very seriously and being a massive support to Evie. I am immensely proud of Jack for doing this.

"My mind is blown by the love and support from everyone, thank you all."
