The Dogs Trust branch in Basildon is set to feature in a star-studded documentary.

The UK's largest canine charity announced it will feature in a new TV series, Pete Wicks: For Dogs' Sake.

This heart-warming programme produced by BBC Studios Entertainment will air later this year on the free-to-air channel U&W, as part of the UKTV network of channels.

TV personality Pete Wicks, known for his love for animals, will take viewers on a journey through the Dogs Trust's challenging but rewarding process of rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming dogs in need.

Wicks has dedicated a great deal of time volunteering behind the scenes at Dogs Trust rehoming centres, primarily basing his activities at the Basildon branch in his home county of Essex.

On his involvement, Wicks said: "Anyone who knows me knows that I prefer animals to people, so this show is a real passion project for me.

"With two rescue dogs of my own, animal welfare is close to my heart, and I am super excited to be teaming up with U&W for this amazing opportunity."

Owen Sharp, chief executive at Dogs Trust, said: "We’ve been absolutely delighted to welcome Pete Wicks into our rescue centres to see, at close hand, how we provide a safe space for dogs in need, and work with them until they’re ready to go into new homes.

"We can’t wait until the show comes out later this year and, in the meantime, Pete’s a part of the Dogs Trust family."
