A pedestrian has been rushed to hospital after being involved in a crash with a car in Rochford.

Emergency services were called to South Street, Rochford, shortly after 12.10pm today.

This was following reports of a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian.

The road was closed for several hours while emergency services dealt with the incident.

The pedestrian was taken to Southend Hospital for treatment for her injuries, which are not being treated as life-threatening.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "Alongside other emergency services, we were called to a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian in South Street, Rochford, shortly after 12.10pm today, Wednesday, July 24.

"A woman was taken to hospital for treatment for her injuries which, at this stage, are not being treated as life-threatening.

"At this stage, no arrests have been made." A spokesman for East of England Ambulance Service added: "We were called just after 12pm with reports of a road traffic collision on South Street, Rochford involving a car and a pedestrian.

β€œAn ambulance, an ambulance officer vehicle and the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance were sent to the scene. A woman was transported by road ambulance to Southend University Hospital for further treatment.”
