Police have made an arrest after a shocking video showing a machete fight close to Adventure Island last night. 

The "fight," which was caught on camera and shared on social media last night shows a "fight with machetes" just minutes away from Adventure Island. 

Further disturbing footage showed several people running across the seafront and High Street wielding "large knives".

A police spokesman said: "At about 7.40pm on Tuesday July 30, an assault with an offensive weapon was seen by security staff and members of the public in Marine Parade, Southend.

"One suspect at the scene was arrested on suspicion of possessing a bladed article and causing grievous bodily harm.

"Police enquiries continue and they are appealing for any of the witnesses to this incident to speak to them and share any information or video footage they have.

"Please contact Essex Police, quoting incident 1094 of Tuesday 30 July."
