A stab victim has been airlifted to the Royal London Hospital following a "large-scale disorder" in Southend.

Last night, disturbing footage on social media showed several people wearing balaclavas, brandishing large knives along Southend seafront.

A viral video also depicted a group engaged in what has been labelled as a "machete fight" in the vicinity of Adventure Island.

These incidents transpired as a "large influx" of young people descended on the city, reportedly for a beach party advertised on TikTok.

The East of England Ambulance Service has since confirmed a man was airlifted to the hospital following reports of a stabbing at around 7pm.

Another injured man was transported to Southend Hospital by Essex Police.

A spokesman stated: “We received multiple 999 calls at approximately 7pm on Tuesday, with reports of a man having been stabbed in Southend.

“Due to the large-scale disorder unfolding in the city centre at that time, we dispatched several resources to the scene.

"This included two ambulances, two ambulance officer vehicles, four Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) vehicles, and the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance.

“One patient was airlifted to Royal London Hospital. Additionally, another patient was transported to Southend University Hospital by Essex Police.”

This morning, Essex Police confirmed they have arrested eight individuals and seized seven weapons, following a night of violence and disorder in Southend.
