A VET has been “left traumatised” after seeing a “disgusting yob” hurl a kitten out their car window on the A127.

Courtney Maas was driving on the A127, near the Fairglen Interchange, when she saw the driver of a black Vauxhall Corsa throw a ten-week-old kitten out of their car window.

The vet, who works in Southend, attempted to rescue the kitten following the incident on Monday but it passed away.

Essex Police has revealed another incident, in Rayleigh High Street on Monday, saw a kitten thrown out of the window of a black Vauxhall Corsa.

Fortunately, the cat survived but Courtney is calling on anyone who may the car involved or have information to contact police urgently.

The 27-year-old said: “I was on the A127, merging with the Fairglen Interchange and the car merged, put indicators on, slowed to 2mph and they threw the kitten out the window.

“I was so shocked I pulled up and put my hazards on then ran down the A127.

“It was alive when it was thrown out, but it was run over and dead when I got to it.

“I took it to my place of work, I was so shaken up by it I haven’t recovered, I was in so much shock.”

Courtney added: “It is disgusting, we find them, take them in and rehome them, why do that?

“Why throw them, if you are struggling to take care of them, take them to a practice, you don’t even have to say if they are yours.

“It was ten weeks old and it was really small, I don’t know how long it will take for me to move on from this.

“Driving that road this morning, I cried the whole way to work, it was awful, I can’t even put it into words.”

An investigation under the Animal Welfare Act remains ongoing and no arrests have been made at this stage.
