Ambulance crews have rushed a man amid claims of a person being found "with machete wounds" near Belfairs Wood.
A man has been rushed to hospital by ambulance crews after they received reports of a man "with blood loss" in Eastwood Road North, near the Inn at Belfairs and Belfairs Wood.
Unverified reports on social media have claimed that a man was found at Belfairs Recreation Ground this morning "with machete wounds". According to residents, a police cordon remains in place with a large emergency services presence.
Essex Police have not yet confirmed the nature of the injuries or incident.
A spokesman for East of England Ambulance said: "We were called at 9.09am with reports of a person with blood loss in Eastwood Road North, Leigh.
"We sent an ambulance, ambulance officer vehicle and a rapid response vehicle.
"One man was taken to hospital for further care."
