A woman has been rescued by firefighters and taken to hospital after a car crash in Southend.
Emergency services were called to Eastern Avenue, in Southend, just before 6pm yesterday evening.
It was following reports of a crash involving two cars.
Firefighters worked to rescue a casualty who was then taken to Southend Hospital by the ambulance service.
A spokesman for Essex County Fire and Rescue Service said: “Firefighters were called to a road traffic collision on Eastern Avenue, Southend at 6pm yesterday.
“On arrival, crews reported there had been a collision involving two cars. Firefighters worked to rescue a casualty and they were left in the care of the Ambulance Service.”
The severity of the woman's injuries is unknown at this stage.
A spokesman for East of England Ambulance Service added: “We were called just before 6pm on Thursday, August 1, to a road traffic collision on Eastern Avenue in Southend.
"An ambulance was sent to the scene and transported an adult woman to Southend University Hospital for further assessment and treatment.”
Essex Police has been contacted for comment by the Echo.
