FAMILIES enjoyed a day of fun and games at Basildon’s newest cinema.
Following the opening of Vue’s brand-new venue in East Square, Basildon Council and Vue spread some cheer for the summer holidays by hosting an exciting Family Fun Day.
Visitors enjoyed meet and greets with various characters such as Bluey, the Minions and giant dinosaurs.
There was also a McLaren racing simulator, face painting, balloon modelling, a circus skills workshop and the chance to get involved in a community window colouring-in event with a community artist.
Families were treated to an exclusive free preview screening of Bluey at the Cinema: Family Trip Collection which is made up of eight episodes from the TV show’s three series.
Free screenings of IF and Spiderman, which is back on the big screen, also took place.
The new cinema was been heavily delayed since it was first announced back in 2020, with chain Empire pulling out of the deal when it fell into administration.
The keys were handed over to Vue earlier this year.
Councillor Allan Davies, Basildon's mayor, joined the council's director of resources Owen Sparks, Vue UK and Ireland general manager Toby Bradon, and the team at the new East Square site to officially open the new venue on July 25.
