PUB bosses have barred multiple customers after a brawl broke out in a Southend pub before spilling into the street.
The Old Walnut Tree, in Southchurch Boulevard, was cordoned off on Saturday night after police were called to a fight at the pub.
Greene King has confirmed that customers who were involved have been barred and Essex Police confirmed one man has been arrested on a series of charges.
Martin Terry, Independent councillor responsible for community safety, said: “It is concerning to hear of a fight.
“It is also deeply regrettable that at a time when Essex Police and police nationally are under extreme pressure, people continue to misbehave, often related to the consumption of alcohol.”
A 30-year-old man has since been arrested on suspicion of causing ABH, causing GBH and assaulting an emergency worker who attended the scene.
At this stage, it remains unclear how many customers were involved in the fight, and, consequently, how many have been barred from the pub.
A spokesperson for the Old Walnut Tree said: “We do not tolerate any kind of antisocial behaviour in our pub.
“During the incident taking place at the pub late on Saturday night our team dealt with the matter promptly and called the police to attend.
“The safety of our team and customers is of paramount importance to us and this was an isolated incident.”
Essex Police is continuing its investigation into the fight after the man arrested was released on bail until October 6.
A spokesman for Essex Police added: “A man has been arrested in connection with a fight that occurred in Southchurch boulevard shortly before 10.50pm on Saturday, August 3.
“A 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of ABH, GBH and assault on an emergency worker.
“He has been released on bail until October 6.
“Our enquiries continue.”
