ADVENTURE Island bosses are investing £200,000 in opening a new seafront ice cream parlour and expand their business empire.

The Ice Cream Club will open its doors on Eastern Esplanade once the transformation of a former fish and chip shop is complete, promising to “tantalise” taste buds with ice cream, waffles, pancakes and “ice cream nachos”.

Positioned next to fish and chip shop The Brittania, also owned by Philip Miller and the Stockvale Group, the new business is aiming to “capitalise on the long term potential” of the site.

Although an opening date is yet to be revealed, Stockvale are hoping it will be ready “very soon”.

Catering Director, James Gibbs said: “Our team is working incredibly hard to open The Ice Cream Club very soon.

“A huge thank you to our staff, suppliers, and builders for working round the clock to bring this exciting project to life.

“Keep an eye out for the opening date.”

Owner of the Stockvale group and Adventure Island CEO, Philip Miller, added: “We have chosen to invest in this part of the seafront as we think it has long term potential.

“The cost of fitting out has touched around two hundred thousand pounds.”

Southend seafront already boasts dozens of ice cream parlous, but Matt Dent, councillor for business and tourism, praised Stockvale for its continued investment in the seafront.

He said: “Any investment in Southend is to be welcomed, and I wish them the best of luck with new business venture.

“It is good to see that we have new businesses popping up, and then thriving on the seafront, which is for the best of Southend.

“I think competition is a good thing. The number of visitors Southend get through the year for the classic British seaside experience wanting ice cream, I think there is more than enough business to go around for everyone.”
