Emergency services are on the scene of an overturned lorry on a major A127 roundabout in Southend.

Photos, seen by the Echo, show a lorry on its side on the A127 Prince Avenue roundabout.

The lorry has shed some of its load onto the major road.

Essex Police, the East of England Ambulance Service, and Essex Fire are all on the scene.

Officers have warned the incident is "causing disruption to traffic" and some road closures are in place.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "We are at the scene of a collision in Westcliff.

"We were called to reports that a lorry had overturned on Prince Avenue at just before 6pm at the roundabout near Tesco.

"This is causing disruption to traffic in the area and there are some road closures in place while emergency services work.

"Avoid the area if you can. Thank you for your understanding.

"And please rest assured that this incident is not connected to any of the reports of planned disorder which continue to circulate on social media."
