AN elderly woman was "threatened and pushed" before her wedding ring was stolen by two people holding clipboards.
During the incident, which happened yesterday afternoon at 2.30pm, an 80-year-old woman was approached by two people with clipboards close to Ingatestone train station.
The two people began talking to the woman who was then threatened and pushed.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: "During the altercation, her wedding ring was taken and the two people quickly left the area.
"A report was then quickly made to us.
"Officers were quickly on the scene and carried out a search of the area."
Two teenage girls were later arrested on suspicion of robbery and fraud.
The girls, aged 17 and 15, have been released on bail with a condition not to enter Ingatestone.
Essex Police say a ring which was found by officers will be returned to the woman involved.
Inspector Phoebe Dawson, of Grays and Brentwood local policing team, said: “Thanks to how quickly the report came in and the descriptions given to us, we were able to make two quick arrests and the investigation will progress with the Crown Prosecution Service.”
Insp Dawson added: “We’re determined to ensure the safety of our community and will always act when reports of crime are made to us.”
