A TEENAGER has been hailed a “little hero” after selflessly grabbing a woman who was standing close to the edge of a bridge.

George Brawn, 15, from Basildon, was on his way home from his girlfriend’s house at around 7.30pm on Monday, when he saw a woman near the railings of a bridge in Basildon.

The youngster ran to her aid and grabbed hold of the woman.

After getting her away from the edge, George spoke to the woman for 15 minutes, defusing the situation before walking her away from the bridge in tears but safe.

“I am just happy she is okay now,” said George.

“At the time it was just really scary, it was so scary to go through and it was so unexpected.

“On the bridge it was me and her and I walked her off the bridge, stayed with her for a couple of minutes and she said she would call her mum.

“She hugged me and thanked me and asked my name before telling me to go home.”

George’s mum, Sarah Brawn, 42, shared the story on social media in an attempt to try and reach the woman George saved.

She was blown away by the praise he has received from the community.

She said: “I am shocked at the amount of comments calling him a hero and people saying he should be recognised for what he did.

“He is a little hero and we just can’t believe it.

“We feel love towards that woman, and for anyone facing something similar, there are people you can call and speak to.

“We feel no anger for her, just concern.”

Sarah added: “This has touched a lot of hearts, we are so proud of him and he is such a good boy, this has made our hearts burst with pride.

“He was in the right place at the right time.”
