A MUCH-LOVED garden centre hoping to sell alcohol on and off its site is among the six new public notices across south Essex this week.

Scott's of Southend, based in Sutton Road, has submitted an application to Rochford Council for a premises licence to allow the business to sell alcohol from 9am to 11pm Monday to Sunday.

Any representations regarding the application must be sent in writing by completing the online form rochford.gov.uk/LicenceRep by Tuesday, August 27.

Another business has also submitted an application for a new premises licence.

Basildon Council has received an application to allow Meyra Brasserie, at 6 Billericay High Street, to sell and supply alcohol, and play recorded music, from 11am to midnight Monday to Saturday, and 12pm to 11.30pm on Sundays.

The licence would also allow the business to be open from 11am to 12.30am Mondays to Saturdays, and 12pm to midnight on Sundays.

A street off a busy Rayleigh road is set to close for eight days next month.

Trinity Road, off Eastwood Road, will be shut from its junction with Leslie Road on September 2 while UK Power Networks install a new supply.

Drivers will be diverted via Eastwood Road, Websters Way, Bull Lane, Jubilee Road and vice versa, with access only into Trinity Road.


A temporary 30 miles per hour speed limit is being introduced in a key Rawreth road while water works are carried out.

The speed limit will be in place in Rawreth Lane eastbound from its junction with Down Hall Road for five days from September 2.

This is while Essex and Suffolk Water undertakes new connection works.


Two roads in Hadleigh are closing for five days in September.

Daws Heath Road will be closing from its junction with Western Road, while Bramble Road will be shut from Daws Heath Road to Moorcroft Avenue.

These closures will be in place from September 2 while Openreach carries out cabling works.


Gardiners Lane North, in Ramsden Crays near Wickford, is also shutting for five days next month.

The road will be closed from its junction with Gardiners Lane South to North Road from September 1 while Essex and Suffolk Water undertakes new connection works.

Drivers will be diverted via Gardiners Lane North, Southend Arterial Road, Upper Mayne, Hony Hill Roundabout, South Wash Road, Wash Road, Harding Elms Road, Crays Hill, London Road, and Gardiners Lane North.
