More than 300 homes are without power after an outage in Hadleigh.

UK Power Networks has confirmed that 330 customers in the SS7 2, SS9 2, and SS9 3 postcodes have been affected by an unplanned power outage this morning.

UKPN became aware of the outage about an hour ago and has sent a team of engineers to investigate the issue.

The Echo understands traffic lights are also out at some junctions in the area, with unconfirmed reports stating this includes London Road, in Hadleigh.

The reason for the outrage is due to an underground electricity cable fault.

A statement on the UKPN website said: "We are sorry for any disruption this may have caused you.

"As this was an unexpected power cut, we didn't know it was going to happen so we were unable to give you advance notice.

"We estimate your power will be back on by 10:30am to 11:30am.

"We may be able to get some customers on sooner. The timeframe may change and be extended depending on our investigations and the work involved to resolve the issue."
