A man has been charged as part of an investigation into an alleged sexual assault in Basildon yesterday.
Officers were called to the Eastgate Centre in Basildon at around 11am on Thursday, August 15 following reports of a man touching a woman’s bottom.
Within 45 minutes, officers arrested a man in the area.
Kevin Ashton, 68 of Great Oxcroft, Laindon has since been charged with two counts of sexual assault on a female.
He will next appear at Southend Magistrates' Court on September 13.
