From drink drivers to fare dodgers, these are seven residents or visitors in south Essex who have been sentenced at magistrates' courts in recent weeks.

A DRINK driver caught without insurance or a licence has been banned from the roads for more than four years.

Giedriuz Saginas, 31, was caught driving a Toyota Hilux on Thurrock Services Road, near Lakeside, when he had 181 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of urine. The limit is 80.

Saginas, of Lakeside Avenue, Ilford, east London, admitted drink driving, driving without insurance, driving without a licence and obstructing a constable in execution of duty at Colchester Magistrates’ Court.

He has now been banned from driving for 51 months, fined £120, ordered to pay £85 costs and an £80 surcharge.


A SPEEDING driver caught at five miles per hour above the limit has been handed a fine.

Stefan Steward, of Clickett Hill, Basildon, was driving a Volkswagen on Main Road in Whaplode, Spalding, when he was found going at 35 miles per hour on March 31. The limit is 30.

The 30-year-old admitted the offence via the single justice procedure on Monday and was handed a fine of £230.

He must also pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £92 and prosecution costs of £110, and his driving record was endorsed with three points.


A WOMAN who failed to give evidence to a police boss has been fined more than £300.

Seyda Ozcan, 44, did not hand information to the Chief Officer of police in Billericay relating to the identification of a Nissan Micra driver alleged to have been guilty of an offence on July 4 last year.

The offence was proved via the single justice procedure at Colchester Magistrates’ Court and Ozcan, of Clockhouse Lane, Romford, east London, was ordered to pay a £333 fine.

Her driving record was also endorsed with six penalty points.


A DRIVER caught using his phone behind the wheel has been told to pay a total of £566.

Anthony Dendle, of Swallow Close, Rayleigh, was driving a BMW in Northumberland Avenue, Westminster, when he was found using his mobile phone on December 1 last year.

The 44-year-old admitted the offence via the single justice procedure last Tuesday.

He avoided a driving ban but was handed a £328 fine.

Dendle was also ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £128, prosecution costs of £110 and his driving record was endorsed with six points.


A VAN driver caught at double the drug drive limit has been banned from the roads for more than a year.

Mitchel Betts, 25, was behind the wheel of a Ford Transit van on the A130 in Bowers Gifford when he was found with 4.4 micrograms of THC - the the principal psychoactive constituent of cannabis - per litre of blood in his system on January 28. The limit is 2.

Betts, of Chariot Drive, Colchester, admitted the offence at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court and was banned from driving for 15 months. He must also pay a £120 fine and £85 costs.


A MAN who boarded a train without paying the £8.60 fare has been fined more than £200.

Wayne Perry, of Riviera Drive, Southend, was at London Waterloo when he was found to have entered a train without a valid ticket on February 18.

The offence was proved via the single justice procedure at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court last Monday.

The 43-year-old has now been fine £220 and ordered to pay £8.60 in compensation.

Perry must also pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £88 and prosecution costs of £180, the court ordered.


 


A FARE dodger caught boarding a train without a ticket has been handed a fine.

Daniel Waudby, of Manning Grove, Langdon Hills, was travelling on a South Western Railway train at Christchurch when he was found without the valid ticket on February 10.

The offence was proved via the single justice procedure at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court last Monday.

The 39-year-old has now been ordered to pay a £220 fine, compensation of £64.70, a surcharge to fund victim services of £88 and prosecution costs of £180.
