Two people have been charged with multiple offences including theft of vehicle and burglary have appeared in court. 

Stephen Foster, 49, of no fixed abode Southend, and Carrie Pordage, 44, of Victoria Avenue, Rayleigh, appeared at Southend Magistrates’ Court on Friday 16 August.

They were arrested in the early hours of August 15 in Westcliff and remanded into custody to appear at court the following day.

They had each been charged with two counts of theft of motor vehicle on August 10 and July 24 and in connection with a burglary on August 4. 

At the court hearing, both pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Foster was also charged with being concerned in offer to supply drugs, being concerned in supply of drugs – both Class A drugs – and possession of a weapon for discharge of noxious substance.

He admitted those offences and was remanded into custody until the next hearing.

Pordage was released on bail.

Both will next appear at Basildon Combined Court on September 13.
