PENT-UP punters will be able to let off some steam when a new “rage room” opens in south Essex.

Angry Smash will open its doors to customers in Rochford in October.

Owner Jake Tripp, 35, believes the venue will give people somewhere to “let loose” where they can destroy rooms full of donated and unwanted smashable goods.

Jake also runs Boyz waste clearance firm and the firm will also reuse unwanted goods they remove from homes and garages.

Willing participants will be expected to wear protective gear in what is described as a “controlled environment”.

Jake’s partner, Charlie, who assists both the Boyz and Angry Smash, has called for feedback from the community “amazing.”

She said: “Me and Jake are competitive adrenaline junkies, and we found a rage room in Braintree, had a look at where it was and found a niche.

“The feedback is amazing, people just can’t wait, and a lot of people have tried booking, a woman from a local gym wanted to book one for her and her class to let loose.

“That’s what it is about, letting loose your inner frustration in a fun environment like a new person.”

The business will operate two rage rooms which will be full of destructible items, such as “draws, buckets of glassware plates and tennis rackets, target walls so you can smash things off the walls”.

Charlie added: “There will be so much and you will have 20 minutes to go absolutely mental.

“Our two rage rooms are quite big and can hold five people, we can do tag team matches, we will have challenges with big solid Welsh dressers filled with China and you will get a set amount of time to smash the dresser to the ground.

“We can even have wheelchair users, if you can get in the PPE you can get into the room, it is all accessible.

“It is a win-win.”

The rage room offers a wide range of weapons to use, including hammers, sledgehammers, golf clubs and tennis rackets, all the way to solid bricks.

Details about how to book will be revealed at a later date.
