THE A13 is closed this morning with delays into south Essex after a serious crash.

The major road was closed both ways between the A1306 and Ferry Lane at Rainham this morning due to a serious crash, according to National Highways.

The incident has occurred on a section of road operated by Transport for London. National Highways contractors will be assisting with the London-bound closure.

Delays are back to Lakeside in West Thurrock.

Due to severe congestion in the area, the A13 is now closed London-bound from the M25 junction 30.

The extent of the westbound closure is now from the M24 to Ferry Lane.

Essex-bound is also still closed between Rainham and Wennington. Drivers are urged to allow extra journey time.
