Southend's most vibrant cultural celebration is well underway across the city as the much-anticipated City Jam event returns.

The event kicked off yesterday and is running throughout the weekend between 10am to 5pm.

Southend City Jam promises to be a spectacular showcase of street art, featuring more than 200 artists from across the globe.

The artists have already began bringing their creativity to more than 100 walls and installations scattered throughout the city centre, seafront, and even the iconic pier.

The festival includes a variety of both permanent and temporary installations, with artists transforming not just the city’s walls but also specially designed cubes.

A key highlight that has returned this year is the Pop-Up Park on the High Street, which is hosting more than 25 artists showcasing their talents live.

Visitors can watch these artists in action today and tomorrow, turning blank surfaces into vibrant pieces of art.

There is also music and food on offer, adding to the festival's lively atmosphere and providing a perfect spot to soak in the artistic energy.

In a first for the festival, the Southend Pier Takeover is seeing four headline artists tackling a six-metre cube located at the pier head.
