POLICE set up a cordon overnight as a man was found injured with stab wounds following an attack on a Basildon estate.

Police were called to reports of a man found injured in Travers Way, Pitsea, at around 8.45pm yesterday.

The man, who is in his 30s, had sustained stab wounds. A cordon was put in place, which remained in place this morning, and a large police presence was seen on the Chalvedon estate.

A 49 year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of GBH with intent. He has since been released on bail until November 28.

Police have issued an appeal for witnesses following the stabbing. An Essex Police spokesman said: "If you have any information, CCTV, dash cam or other footage in relation to this incident, then please get in contact with us.

"Please quote the crime reference number 42/132566/24."
