A PERSON has been rushed to hospital with cut wounds following an early-morning fight involving a "group of people" in Southend.

Officers say it was reported a group of people had been involved in the brawl in Chichester Road at about 4am this morning, Saturday, August 31.

One person has been taken to hospital with cuts to his fingers, but police say they believe these were “accidentally self-inflicted wounds”.

“His condition is not life-threatening or life-changing,” a spokesman added.

A police cordon has been set up in the High Street following the incident and enquiries are ongoing to identify the people responsible.

Officers are asking any witnesses with any information, CCTV, dash cam or other footage in relation to the incident.
