A GROUP of teenagers aged 14 to 18 accused of being involved in a night of violent disorder in Southend have appeared at court this morning.

All eight were due to appear together in the plea and listed trial prep, presided over by Judge Samantha Leight, and in court two applications were heard for two of the adult defendants.

Michael King, 18, of Crescent Road, South Woodford, and Mekai Brown, 18, of Higham Road, South Woodford, were both remanded in custody.

King and Brown were both previously charged with violent disorder and wounding with intent.

The next court appearance will be on September 23, where pleas are now expected to be heard, with further court dates before trial have been set provisionally for September 23, October 22, November 18, and December 16.

While the trial date has been scheduled for January 20.

A 16-year-old boy from Basildon, has been charged with wounding with intent, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and violent disorder.

A 16 year-old boy from Canning Town has been charged with attempted murder, possession of a firearm with intent to cause serious injury, possession of a prohibited weapon in a public place, and violent disorder.

A 14 year-old boy from Pitsea has been charged with violent disorder, wounding with intent, and possession of an offensive weapon.

A 16 year-old boy from Shadwell has been charged with violent disorder, wounding with intent, and possession of an offensive weapon.

Mekai Brown, 18, of Higham Road, Woodford Road, has been charged with violent disorder and wounding with intent.

Tyler Omo-Irogho, 18, of Clarendon Road, Watford, has been charged with two counts of violent disorder, wounding with intent, possession of an offensive weapon, and assaulting an emergency worker.
