A DRIVER is fighting for his life in hospital after a serious crash near Rayleigh Spur in the early hours this morning.

Police remain on the scene on the A130, close to the major roundabout, after being called at around 4.30am to a single car crash.

Emergency services were in attendance and the driver of the car was taken to hospital where he remains in a life-threatening condition.

Officers remain at the scene and working with Highways England to manage road closures.

An Essex Police spokesman said: "Our serious collision investigation unit are continuing enquiries and appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or has any dashcam footage to contact us, quoting incident number 121 of 4 September.
