Southend Airport Retail Park new Next and Costa opened

Costa Coffee flung open the doors last month as part of the recently opened Next clothing store, inside the former Oak Furniture Land, and is proving a huge hit. 

The furniture shop had remained vacant since the business closed in August 2020.

Roche South ward Tory councillor, Mike Steptoe, has visited the Costa and believes it offers another great reason to spend time in the retail park.

He said: “Costa is very popular, and people enjoy having a cup of coffee and relaxing after making their retail purchases in Next.

“The retail park has a good quality of different kinds of shops, including a Pets at Home, Argos and many others, it is a really good number of different shops.

“It is fantastic news Costa and Next are at the airport and the retail park is going from strength to strength, it is so popular, it is causing trouble with so many cars trying to get into it all the time.”

Mr Steptoe added that he has received great feedback from residents.

He added: “The feedback I get is that residents are very pleased Next and Costa are there and are very happy to see them there.”

Plans were approved by Rochford Council in March to add to the nine retail units at the Airport Retail Park, including Pets at Home, Home Bargains, McDonalds and Argos.

A Costa Coffee spokesman said: “We’re excited to welcome the local community to our brand-new Costa Coffee store in Next on Southend Airport Retail Park.

“With vibrant interior, décor and comfortable furniture, it’s the ideal space for those working remotely or catching up with friends and family to relax, connect and enjoy a delicious cup of Costa Coffee”

The new store is open from 7am to 7pm Monday to Saturday, and 10am to 4pm on Sunday.
