New pictures show a Basildon bin collection lorry that was left on its side in the middle of the road after tipping sideways.

 Following the incident, Labour Basildon council leader Gavin Callaghan assured residents that "all staff are safe and not suffering from any serious injuries".

Mr Callaghan said: "Thanks to everyone who has reached out to enquire about the safety of the refuse collectors who were involved in an accident today in Laindon.

Police have been contacted for comment.
