A police investigation has been launched after the "unexpected" death of a woman in her 60s in Pitsea.
Essex Police, alongside The East of England Ambulance Service, were called to Gordons, in Pitsea, shortly after midday yesterday.
This was following concerns for the welfare of a woman.
Essex Police has since confirmed that on arrival, they found a woman aged in her 60s who had died.
Her death is being treated as "unexpected".
Officers have now launched an investigation and said there remains an emergency services presence in the area.
A spokesman added: “Alongside our emergency services colleagues, we were alerted to concerns for the welfare of a person in Gordons, Pitsea, shortly after midday on Tuesday 10 September.
“We arrived and, sadly, found a woman aged in her 60s had died.
“Her death is being treated as unexpected and an investigation will be carried out.
“There will continue to be an emergency services presence in the area throughout today.”
