A LEIGH cafe is set to offer top-notch charcuterie boards alongside late-night refreshments as part of a plan to expand on its success over the last 12 years.

Barlow and Fields, in Elm Road, Leigh, has proved popular since opening as a coffee shop and cafe and has now revealed its plan to sell alcohol and stay open later several nights a week.

From October the business will stay open until midnight on Friday and Saturday, and 11.30pm on Thursday and Sunday.

Owner Simon Barlow believes the move will help the business work as an alternative to noisy bars and expensive restaurants, with a laid-back and relaxed atmosphere to be maintained, much like during the day.

He said: “We want to offer a similar vibe to what we have now and a small selection of wines and beers.

“It will be something different where you can come and relax and with the cost of living going up, getting something to eat and drink is so expensive.

“We are cutting no quality though. We have some nice beer and wines and cheese charcuterie boards.

“This October we are looking to launch our late nights, and we have a couple of events to iron out.

“Then we will be open to the public in the first week of October, since day one people have asked if we were going to open in the evenings.”

Simon added that the events will be run with new business partner Kylee Howes, who has planned much of how the new evenings will be run.

“It is a joint venture with Kylee Howes. She will be running the evenings while I hold the base, it is an expansion and we feel there is a desire out there for it and we want to build it up,” he added.

“After surviving Covid, we have wanted to try other ventures to stay open, it is a reason in itself to want to push on and Kylee will be spurring this forwards.”

Simon added that the standouts they are pushing for at the late night events will include cheeses and meat board, “which are top-notch and really good”, as well as offering a range of beers and wines.
