THE finale of a series of music events in Hadleigh has been cancelled after teenagers “looking to caused trouble” sparked safety concerns.

The Salvation Army has held a series of 80s music events at Hadleigh Farm Estate over the summer with the finale due to take place next Friday night.

However, the last event – an Ibiza Anthems night – on September 6 was called off early after a “small number of people” gained entry and were disruptive.

According to social media, the event was spoiled by young teenagers allegedly looking to cause trouble.

The events had proved popular over the summer and the announcement has left many residents disappointed.

A spokesman for Salvation Army said: “We have decided to cancel our Hub Tropicana season finale despite two very successful evenings earlier this summer.

“These are community events and the vast majority of attendees come to have fun and are respectful of our no alcohol site policy.

“Sadly, at the last event, a small number of people managed to gain entry and were very disruptive – we were not overrun at any point.

“We closed the evening early and decided to cancel the event on September 20.

“Our events are aimed at the whole community and nothing is more important than seeing the joy they bring to so many.”

The music events had been organised as a “family friendly” event for the community to enjoy.

A spokesman for Hadleigh Farm Estate added: “We share your disappointment but following issues at our most recent event we are unable to proceed.

“Our vision for these events has always been to provide a family friendly space for the community to come together but unfortunately our ability to achieve this has been impacted by the actions of some individuals.

“We would like to thank everyone for their support, and our staff and volunteers for their hard work because without them there are no events.”
